Horde  HordeCrest.jpg

The Horde is one of the two major political factions of the mortal races in Azeroth, its counterpart being the Alliance. The Horde, a faction led by off-worlders and composed of outsiders has survived these obstacles by making allies with few of the native races of Azeroth or even uneasy allies. Although its ideals, policies, and beliefs have been revised and membership has changed over time, it is the same Horde inherited by Thrall through Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer. However, since the mantle of Warchief was passed on to Garrosh Hellscream, the Horde’s alliance with other races has began to suffer heavily due to Garrosh’s warmongering. A direct example of this are the Troll’s under Vol’jin leaving Orgrimmar because of Garrosh’s hunger for war and Sylvanas Windrunner ignoring the warchiefs commands and using her plague on her enemies.

Main Leaders:

Garrosh led the Horde troops into Northrend and was given the position of acting Warchief in Thrall’s absence. Garrosh is well-known for his fierce hatred of the Alliance and frequently expresses his desire for the Horde to go to war with its rival faction – a notion Thrall has always opposed

*Sylvanas Windrunner  Image of Sylvanas Windrunner

Once the Ranger-General of Silvermoon, Sylvanas Windrunner was murdered by the death knight,Arthas, and brought back as a creature of undeath. After regaining her free will, she rebelled against theLich King and the Scourge and became the founder of the Forsaken faction of undead, who are allied with the Horde. She has styled herself the Dark Lady, Queen of the Forsaken, an expansion of her original title, “the Banshee Queen”. As leader of the Forsaken and the Horde on the Eastern Kingdoms, Sylvanas is a military genius. The middle sister of Alleria and Vereesa Windrunner, she was Ranger-General of the high elf kingdom of Quel’Thalas. She fought valiantly against Arthas when he invaded Quel’Thalas, but during the fall of Silvermoon, Arthas raised her as an undead minion as a form of petty revenge. When the Lich King’s hold on his minions weakened, Sylvanas, among other undead, regained her free will, and she led her forces against the dreadlords who had taken hold over Lordaeron, ultimately affirming her sovereignty by killing off two of the nathrezim and bending the third, Varimathras, to her will. She renamed her force of self-aware undead the Forsaken and declared herself their queen. Under her leadership, the Forsaken have managed to not only fend off the Scourge, but also the Scarlet Crusade. She has a certain mastery of leadership, military strategy, and the bow. She is also adept at demon magic— having the ability to drain life, create skeletons, and use mind control. Sylvanas is the best archer on Azeroth— she claimed she could hit a flying bird in the eye. She wields Sunstrider’s Longbow— once owned by Dath’Remar Sunstrider, it was passed on to Sylvanas when she became Ranger-General.

He managed to stay alive, but he began to lose hope when all his fellow captives were killed one by one until he was the only one left.

Races

*Orc  OrcCrest.jpg

The orcs of Orgrimmar are a faction of orcs within the Horde, the orc player faction. They live in the land of Durotar in Kalimdor.Long ago, the noble orcish race was corrupted by the Burning Legion and transformed into the merciless, destructive Horde. Lured to the world of Azeroth, the orcs were forced to make war upon the human kingdoms of Stormwind and Lordaeron in what would become known as the First and Second Wars. Though the Horde nearly succeeded in annihilating humanity, it ultimately devoured itself from within and collapsed. The defeated orcs spent many years within guarded prisons, unable to function without the prospect of conquest and warfare. After many years, a visionary young warchief rose to lead his people in their darkest hour. Fittingly enough, the young orc’s name was Thrall. Under his rule, the orcs freed themselves from the chains of demonic corruption and embraced their shamanistic heritage.

*Troll  TrollCrest.jpg

The trolls of the Darkspear tribe is the faction of playable trolls (jungle trolls) of the Darkspear tribe. They are members of the Horde. As tribal rivalries erupted throughout the former Gurubashi Empire, the Darkspear tribe found themselves driven from their homeland in Stranglethorn Vale. Having settled in what are believed today to be the Broken Isles, the tribe soon found themselves entangled in a conflict with the Underworld Minionsmurlocs. Their fate seemed sealed until the orcish Warchief Thrall and his band of newly freed orcs took shelter on their island home. Controlled by a Sea Witch, the Underworld Minions captured the Darkspears’ leader Sen’jin, along with Thrall and several other orcs and trolls. Thrall managed to free himself and others, but was ultimately unable to save the trolls’ leader. Although Sen’jin was sacrificed to the Sea Witch, he was able to reveal a vision he had in which Thrall would lead the Darkspear from the island.

*Tauren  TaurenCrest.jpg

The tauren of Thunder Bluff is a faction of tauren that start in the Red Cloud Mesa, an area of rolling plains atop the high cliffs in southern Mulgore. They are the Horde tauren player race. As of the Cataclysm expansion, Taurens are the only playable race that has every Tank and every Healer class availible to them. No other race, Horde or Alliance, can boast either.

*The Forsaken Undead  ForsakenCrest.jpg

The undead of the Undercity faction, better known as the undead Forsaken (also simply called Forsaken) is a faction of playable undead Forsaken in the World of Warcraft allied with the Horde. The undead (Forsaken) start in Deathknell, an sub-zone located in western Tirisfal Glades.Bound to the iron will of the tyrant Lich King, the vast undead armies of the Scourge seek to eradicate all life on Azeroth. Led by the banshee Sylvanas Windrunner, one group of undead broke away from the Scourge in a small period of time when the Lich King lost some of his power, and they freed themselves of the Lich King’s domination. These renegades call themselves the Forsaken. They fight a constant battle not only to retain their freedom from the Scourge, but also to exterminate those who would hunt them as monsters.

*Blood Elf  Icon of Blood.jpg

The blood elves of Silvermoon City start in the Eversong Woods, the northern section of Quel’Thalas. Farther south is the Ghostlands, a level 10-20 zone. According to WoW Census, blood elves are currently the most played race on the Horde.Long ago the exiled high elves landed on the shores of Lordaeron. They struck out to find a new home, and after many battles with the trolls, established the kingdom of Quel’Thalas. Using a vial of sacred water stolen from the first Well of Eternity, the high elves created a fount of mystical power at a convergence of ley energies in Quel’Thalas. They named this fountain the Sunwell. Its potent arcane magic fed and strengthened the high elves, and soon the wondrous city of Silvermoon was established.

*Goblin  Goblin-Crest.jpg

Originally the slaves of jungle trolls on the Isle of Kezan, the goblin race was forced to mine kaja’mite ore out of the volcanic bowels of Mount Kajaro. The trolls used this potent mineral for their voodoo rituals, but it had an unexpected effect on the slaves who were in constant contact with it: kaja’mite generated a startling new cunning and intelligence in the goblins. Crafting their own powerful artifacts of engineering and alchemy in secret, the goblins soon overthrew their oppressors and claimed Kezan for their homeland. The mines that had been their prison, their slave camp, and the base of their rebellion now became the city of Undermine. Weaving through the heart of the island in a dizzying network of tunnels, vaults, and lava tubes, Undermine epitomizes the goblins’ complex, unpredictable mindset.
